Margarita vs Margherita

I am a good Scrabble player, but a terrible speller. Since starting with the pizza making and deciding to use the margherita pizza to compare doughs, I’ve had to google how to spell it many times. In my notes, it’s probably spelled margarita (the drink) just as many times as margherita (the pizza), but even more often probably something in between.

Now, even if my primary objective is mastering the margherita, couldn’t I also mix a margarita or two too? My house has a bar in the basement, so clearly this needs to happen. Here is my current margarita recipe:

  • 1 ounce lime (fresh squeezed)
  • 2 ounces tequila
  • 1 ounce triple sec
  • 1 squeeze honey (about a teaspoon)

Shakey shakey, drinky drinky!

Heres the thing…I didn’t stop there. I also had more tequila and the need for tacos, so I made a margarita marinade for chicken! I had some bottled lime juice in the fridge, so I used measured out what I had left, and just used the following ratio:

  • 1 part lime juice (not fresh squeezed)
  • 2 parts tequila
  • 1 ounce triple sec
  • 1 part honey

I also salted the chicken pretty well (it is a margarita after all). The drink was good, but the tacos were really good…

I think the next thing to do is have margarita drinks paired with margherita pizza?
